(no subject)
Sep. 5th, 2014 11:24 pmSo the blanket continues (pic below), I’m so close to done that I want it be done, and just far enough that staying up an extra hour or two will make no difference. An unsatisfactory state of affairs. On the plus side, its already keeping me cosy.
So I started something. There are two comments I’d like to make about this
One, by starting this for myself, I have not started a pair of socks for the BF. With yarn we got in Munich, at least two years ago. I have of course already knitted the yarn I bought myself on that trip. I made the colour affection shawl, and indeed suggested it for a KAL. It has lead to me being banned for suggesting KAL’s again.
I have of course now lost the shawl, it was I suspect stuffed in a pocket and fell out. Pesky yarn, you take all that time and then they make some misguided bid for freedom.
The other is making a straight edge on a garter stitch piece. Usually each line has a bump on the edge. So far I have found two methods of stopping this.
Firstly knit to the end of the row, turn, on the new row slip the first stitch through the back. This twists the stitch and gets rid of the bump. As I usually slip the first stitch in a row, so this method gets my vote.
Secondly the method in the project I’m currently knitting. knit to last stitch, slip one with yarn in front. Which I am using, as I think it gives a good edge for picking stitches up, a requirement in this project.
