joexnz: (what ever it takes)
This is my yarn box, it sits on the shelf next to my couch

At the other end, Rocky is sitting in hat and scarf, guarding the rest of the green wool until I make him mittens.
Rocky is just being distracting however,

YARN!!
I have a stash, its quite, um, extensive… vast tracts of yarn….

The yarn box, is part of it, a resting place for bits of yarn, unfinished balls and recent acquisitions.
This is an not exhaustive list of what’s in it.

So clockwise from top left corner, brown sock yarn purchased in cork about 4 or 5 years ago, somehow this hasn’t made it into my sock yarn bag.

Multicoloured stuff is manos del Uruguay, recently acquired from someone else’s stash.

Cream yarn, is overexposed in this photo, is undyed, hand spun, from yarnfest 3 years ago

Four balls of red lopi, from Iceland, the a ball of gray and a ball of white next to them 5-6 years ago.

Blue in the top right corner is possum from my trip to NZ 2010?

The next red ball, is hand dyed and spun by a friend of mine, I used most of it to make a cosy for a wee tea pot.

Outside the box is some gray and brown (bottom right corner) I got in Orkney from the sheep that eat only seaweed. I wonder if that’s as close as yarn gets to veal?

Black lopi, and my knee.

Random gray, also lifted from the aforementioned other stash. I always end up with random amounts of gray, I have a cabled shawl that used up the last accumulation.

The brightly coloured stuff I got in Islay also. After my NZ2010 trip I had so much yarn I’ve tried only to buy local yarn, when I’m on holiday, stuff you can’t buy anywhere else.

Speckled blue stuff in the bottom left corner, possibly rowan tweed. I had a blue and a green and honestly no idea when/where I got them.

The purple was a xmas present from alan (he goes to Macraes every xmas and buys 3-4 balls at random, mainly to see what I’ll do with them, this is the last left after I used the red, green and blue he also got me for something).

White blob above that it two balls of alpaca my mum bought me in peru, in 2009ish, its finer lace weight, and I have no ideas, whatever it ends up, I’ll probably dye it.
