I have two bosses, one who who does client management and the other techincal stuff. G does client stuff and she's good, attentive, well organised and positive. Went round today and made sure we all knew about 3 minute silence for the Madrid bombing. J is the techinical manager, whose basic management style is 'aren't I an awful boss and isn't it funny' in the hopes that this will mean we all think he's a great guy. his response when G pointed out it was time for the silence, 'whats that got to do with our client', grin grin. J this does not make you funny it just makes you a lousy manager. but then what should I expect from the man who last week gave me back two cheques to get cancelled, said he didn't know how to do it. No one else in team knew how to do it, but someone kindly put me onto someone who might know, who wrote back to me to say J could do this. Emailed him and asked him to do it and he said okay which cases, then told me off for being snippy when I said it was the two he gave me this morning (and still had to supply the names). Now gee I wonder why I did that?
G only highlights how bad J can be, it just makes him look worse

we had 3 minutes for Madrid bomb and either 3 or 5 for World Trade Center attack.
how much commeration is a human life worth, cause someone got cheated there.
We have a minutes silence every 11 nov for WWW1, does it count as more cause we are still doing it. how do you measure respect for the dead, and the impact of the circumstances of their leaving. do you have to know how to measure it in order to commerate it correctly. Is giving your life for a cause worth more than having it taken for someone elses.
when we honour the dead are we looking at the individual or the collective impact of loss. I can think of some people I would only give silence for on grounds that at end of day it was a human life that was ended, but not for what happened during their life. Am I in a position to make that judegement when I know there are people who would say same about me.
okay that got bit deeper than I mean it to.
