It's an alison holst receipe (the nz equivalent of Delia, only much less of a middle aged, middle class pretenious twat)
Irn bru available at the scottish shop on princes st, dunedin
or substitute fanta.
2 cups self rasing flour
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup dark/plain choc chips
1/4 cup oil (not olive, or mechancial)
1 cup Irn bru
1 Large egg
Oven - 200 deg celsius, or 400 farenhiet
(you'll also need two bowls one middle to large, a spoon and a muffin tray)
Dry Stuff
Mix flour, choc chips, suger and salt in a large bowl
Wet Stuff
mix oil, irn bru and egg, whisk together
add the dry to the wet
gently fold in
(for those of you who don't cook, this means tilting the bowl on its side (a bit) running the largest spoon (or flatest wooden spoon) along the edge through the floor towards you and then pushing it back across the top of the wet stuff, in effect folding the flour round it) - hope that helps
do not over stir, as soon as the flour is nearly all moist, stop
if non stick, grease your muffin tray
put mixture in tray (if you need more insruction than that, go and find an adult)
put tray in oven until muffins go light brown.
