A few shelves up and to the right from is the yarn shelf, this differs from the yarn box.

Yarn Shelf

It is currently the project shelf
Starting from the left

Red Wool – also from my recent stash raid
Project above – Gray possum, Kenzo, need to finish the last shoulder and see if blocking will magically make it 3 sizes bigger, it won't.

Next to Red Wool – fugly fair isle, needs another sleeve and steeking. I am doing a steeking class at Shetland wool week, so I can do this. Steeking means cutting your knitting, it makes knitters wibble.

There is a wee bag next to that, which is yarn flowers… for...well you never know.

The tall case, wedged in between the shelves, is the source yarn for the fugly.  My stash is, if you include the stuff from my mothers stash, is 30 years old in places. About 2 or 3 years ago I gathered up all the odds and ends, raided the yarn box and franksteined it all together (frankenyarn?) with russian joins. A technique I highly recommend.

Hanging down, rainbow sock yarn I bought on holiday in Bath

Top right – Shelter yarn, by Jared Flood AKA Brooklyn Tweed. Given how everyone raves about this I was expecting something else/more. But I’ve yet to knit it up and wash it, so my opinion is not yet a final judgement.

Underneath that, Colinette Art, that I bought to finish the blanket and have heaps left. THIS, this is how you end up with stash!!!

Beneath that, collection of sock yarn, including some cotton stuff which  I got from America via my cousin Robert about 7 years ago. I knit one sock and hated the stuff, but need to go back and try it on smaller needles. There is also some stuff from NZ2010 and Colinette jitterbug (what! I like their creative packs!!)

The black bag at the end, is in the bag of a motorbike cover  It contains some brown wool, spun on Otago peninsula purchased NZ2010. Hopefully enough for a blanket, I did test squares in 2011……
