if you want a long update go read ajax_nz, he's better at these things than me
Venice - I don't remember san marco's flooding that much, but it's still my favourite city, even if it's some what overpriced. I know at some point I have to make a list of stuff to go and see, but this trip was a tourist trip. My dad and alan got on okay, but I don't think he won my mum over to the same extent. But she was always a harder sell (he should have mentioned how much he liked Sarum). San Marco's church can be shot round at a great rate. The Doge's palace is crammed full of propaganda art all still in situ, but a bit over whelming enmasse however, it does represent much better value per euro. wandered into a few churches and the jewish ghetto. Everyone always says Paris is a romantic city, Venice has no traffic and not a bit of it is unpicturasque always gets my romantic vote.
Athens is another large crowded city and the more of them I see the more I dislilke them, though i don't think we are in a great part of it. Also would help if I lived in one myself. Anyway off to the Greek Islands day after tomorrow.

after having decided in my last week that my CV wasn't working and borrowing notes on how to write one (which i then left at parents hotel and will go pick up when I get back) I got home on friday my last day and had two phone messages for job interviews (i've only applied for three so far), one on May 6 (had to email and say I could not make it) and one was phone interview scheduled for when I get back. The one on May 6 would have been good. Also sent my cv off to Open University to see if I could blag my way into being a first year arts tutor (I don't think I'll get it) and trying to get application for information assistant for national galleries of scotland, the pay is shite and it's a year contract, but it's a way in and if I'm serious about using this last year as a break in my carrer i shall just have to bite the bullet.

We stayed in really nice place in Venice, and somewhere not quite so nice in Athens. I don't think they are going to improve much round the islands either. but then what I was expecting for a cheap tour. I don't think I'm a back packer anymore, unless I'm doing it for long streches. I'm getting to old. Is wierd travelling as part of couple as well, I think I'm going to be a lot more conservative when there is someone around who can tease me about my hangover is a few months time and can be embarassed on my behalf about some of the stuff I do whilst drunk. But the upside is that on the down time I get no where near as bored as I always have some to talk to. We bought a glass chess set in Venice (venice glass being world famous), and he's beaten me twice. The second time we were sitting in San Maro sq surrounded by luggage so I was distracted by checking no one was going to steal it (also I am a crap player).

have been sitting here for an hour and twenty the laundry will be done in awhile.

Alan has purchased a lead for his power brick as he left his behind and the adaptor he bought in Dixons doesn't work. I have to find my rail ticket (I think it's in my trouser pocket) so we can go to the market this afternoon as its valid for 24 hours.

I missed sending something in for the dictator birthday, may has rather snuck on me, I also meant to send something for wee girls birthday. I am a bad long distance friend, I was jealous of the amount of energy tori had for it, but I knew that. It doesn't mean I'm not thinking of you but just like most people the stuff in front of me gets done first.

Postcards will be purchased in the greek islands but probably won't be sent until I get home. Also I have rerember everyones address (hints please) and my address book is at home.

I have collected some stuff for megan and will give it to TGJ instead of posting it.

Am I having a good time, it always sounds exotic being in a foregin country. Actually this time round I've found it a bit trying. I'm really looking forward to getting on the tour where I don't have to worry about how and when to get places, sorting out places to eat etc. the basic question will be to beach or sightsee. I really am getting old. Actually I just went back and put in the bit about chess in San Marco sq and that go the buzz going, just takes me a couple days/weeks to get going properly in foregin and group environment.

Oh yeah we nearly missed our flight yesterday, I blame microsoft as gamers pda software updates appt times to local time so the 12:30 flight had been entered as 12:30 in uk and was updated to 1:30 venice time. I've never checked in whilst they were flashing last call before it was quite exciting.
